10 May WHEN YOU PEEL BACK THE LAYERS OF BULLSHIT WHO ARE YOU REALLY?
I often ask this question when working with a new client.
The typical response is I do X for a living, or I am a parent.
These are not bad things. They often are good things that give us a sense of purpose.
But what if you woke up tomorrow and that was gone…
Scary as hell to imagine, is it not?
I recently had a great conversation with a friend of mine I have a lot of respect for.
He grew up hard. He defied the odds and built a great life for him and his family.
This dude is tough as nails and prides himself on being able to withstand anything.
But when I pressed him on who he would be if he were not a father, you could sense the fear, the uncertainty. Which is a normal response by the way.
I have been asking myself this question over the past few years.
It is a very difficult process to go down, but necessary for growth.
I like how the French philosopher, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, explains it: “We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
This perspective gives us a better operating system to live by.
It will make you a better parent.
It will make you a better member of your community.
How To Implement Into Your Daily Life:
You need a consistent morning practice to connect with your spiritual being. If not, the busyness of the day will make you lose sight of this.
Samples Morning Routines That Could Help:
1) Daily Devotional.
2) Time In Nature.
