20 Jan Love, Serve, and Invest

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy.” – Matthew 6:19

I came across this verse the other day and it brought me back to the first time I read the Bible when I was twelve. I was fascinated by the wisdom of the book of Proverbs and the love of Jesus Christ. We all find wisdom in different places (holy scriptures, parents, etc.) but wherever you find yours let’s all learn and remember the principles taught in this verse. We live in a society that value “things” and “insta-gratification.” We spend the majority of our lives living in a mindset of “if it makes ME happy” it’s good. At times this instinct serves us well, but having the wisdom to discern between immediate and lasting joy is key. I make no bones about it. I want to make a shit ton of money. I want TMAC FITNESS to spread around the world. But money and vanity is far from my driving force. My drive comes from a deep desire to contribute to society. So when I think of this verse it reminds me of my purpose….to serve. You and I are here for a very brief moment my friend. Let’s spend it loving, serving, and investing in things that last. #mindright
